This engine air filter is a rectangular, disposable panel that sits at the front of the engine bay. Its filtration media traps airborne debris while letting air flow to the engine.

The filter cannot be washed or reused, so it is swapped for a new one at each service. The usual replacement interval is every 12 months or 12,000 miles, unless the vehicle maintenance schedule states a different one. One filter comes in a box.
