- FITMENT — FIT FOR MERCRUISER CARBURETED MARINE ENGINESThis electric fuel pump is a direct-fit replacement for the following Fit for MerCruiser marine engines: Fit for Mercury Marine 4.3L 262 (1998), Fit for Mercury Marine 5.0L 305 (2000), Fit for Mercury Marine 5.7L 350 (2000). Also fits MCM/MIE 4.3L V6 and 5.0L V8 Gen+ and some 350 ci carbureted engines. Fits Fit for MerCruiser Alpha One and Bravo stern drive configurations. IMPORTANT: This is a LOW PRESSURE pump for CARBURETED engines ONLY. It does NOT fit fuel injected (EFI/MPI) engines. Please verify your engine type before ordering.
- PART NUMBER & CROSS REFERENCEReplaces Part Number: 861155A3. Also cross-references with: 935432 (Mallory), 18-8868 (Sierra), 861155-2, 861155-4, 861155A2, 861155A6. This is the low pressure booster pump that delivers fuel from the fuel tank through the fuel line to the carburetor. Both the inlet and outlet connections are threaded (NPT). The high pressure pump 861156A1 looks similar but the small outlet is NOT threaded. Package includes: 1PC electric fuel pump with tight seal washers and electrical connector plug. Please confirm your existing part number before purchasing.
- CONSTRUCTION & SPECIFICATIONSThis electric fuel pump is constructed from cast iron housing with rubber sealing components. The cast iron body provides structural strength to handle continuous fuel delivery in marine environments. Technical specifications: Voltage DC 12V, Electric Current ≤ 2.5A, Flow Rate ≥ 100L/H, Operation Pressure 9-14 PSI. Both inlet and outlet ports are threaded for secure fuel line connections. The threaded small outlet end is the key identifier that distinguishes this low pressure carbureted pump from the high pressure fuel injected pump, which has a smooth non-threaded small outlet end.
- WHEN TO REPLACE — COMMON SYMPTOMSConsider replacing your marine electric fuel pump when you notice any of the following issues on your Fit for MerCruiser boat engine: the engine cranks but will not start or is hard to start, the engine stalls or sputters at idle or under load, fuel pressure readings are below the normal 9-14 PSI operating range, the engine loses power during acceleration or at cruising speed, you hear unusual whining or buzzing noises coming from the fuel pump area, the pump is leaking fuel from the housing or around the threaded connections, or the engine runs rough and misfires due to inconsistent fuel delivery to the carburetor.
- INSTALLATION GUIDEStep 1: Disconnect the battery and relieve fuel system pressure. Step 2: Locate the fuel pump on the engine block and disconnect the electrical connector plug. Step 3: Using a wrench, unthread the fuel inlet and outlet lines from the pump. Have a rag ready to catch residual fuel. Step 4: Unbolt the mounting fasteners and pull the old pump away from the block. Step 5: Place the included seal washers onto the replacement pump and set it onto the engine block mounting surface. Step 6: Secure the bolts, reconnect the threaded fuel lines, and plug in the connector. Step 7: Reconnect the battery, turn the key to ON to prime the system, and check all connections for leaks.
