Key features
- 53-434 Single Fire 3 Coil, 12V 2-Wire: Direct aftermarket single-fire ignition coil for Harley Evo & Twin Cam engines. Replaces ACCEL 53-434 and crosses 53434, 140-434, 8-434. 3 primary resistance, 12V, 2-wire (primary + ground), oil-filled canister, black finish. Match your old coil's 3 rating and single-fire system before ordering. Not for dual-fire 5 stock coils, not for Delphi EFI 2004+ Sportster, not a plug-wire-only repair
- Compatible with Harley Evo & Twin Cam with Single-Fire Ignition (1984-2003): Engineered for Sportster XL 883/1200 (1986-2003), Dyna FXD/FXDB/FXDL (1991-2006), Softail FXST/Fat Boy/Heritage/Deuce (1984-2006), Touring FLH/FLT Electra Glide/Road King/Road Glide (1984-2006) on single-fire modules (stock or aftermarket Crane/Dynatek)
- Fixes Misfire, Backfire & High-RPM Cutout: Resolves Evo/Twin Cam symptoms: cold-start no fire, popping on decel, rough idle, or dead miss above 4k rpm. New winding ratio + 3 primary delivers hotter spark off the module without overdrawing the ignition box. Ohm-test old coil: 3 10% = good; open or <1 = shorted. Replace when spark jumps to coil tower instead of plug
- Bolt-On to Factory Bracket, 15 Minutes: Remove seat/fender (Touring) or side cover (Sportster), disconnect 2-wire spade from old coil, unbolt 2 1/4" mount bolts, lift coil off bracket, seat new coil, torque to 35 in-lb, reconnect 2-wire (red to module, black to ground). Reuse existing spark plug wires (7mm/8mm) if resistance is under 5k per foot; otherwise upgrade to new wires at the same time
- 3 Single Fire vs 5 Dual Fire - Check Your Module Before Ordering: This coil is 3 single-fire for aftermarket or late-stock single-fire modules. Early stock Harleys (pre-1990s) and some stock Evo run 5 dual-fire coils-installing this 3 on a dual-fire module causes module overheating. Confirm your ignition: if you have a single-fire Crane HI-4, Dynatek Dyna S/2000, or stock single-fire (1995+ Evo/Twin Cam), this 3 is correct. If your stock coil reads 5 and you have no aftermarket module, buy a 5 dual-fire coil instead
