This tapered ring compressor is machined from 6061 aluminum and is used to compress piston rings while a piston is installed into an engine cylinder bore. Its angled interior is shaped to guide the rings into the bore.

The aluminum body weighs less than steel versions, which makes it easier to hold during extended engine assembly work. Use it as an engine assembly tool when fitting pistons.
