Key features

  • Outside micrometer with 0 to 1" measuring range and disc-style anvil/spindle pair measures thickness of narrow grooves and difficult or closely spaced areas, such as slots and recesses
  • Vernier scale has 0.001" graduations and an accuracy of 0.00016" to provide precise readings and accurate measurements
  • Hardened, ground, and micro-lapped anvil/spindle pair provides wear resistance
  • Positive locking lever locks measurement in place for accurate reading
  • Ratchet stop applies constant force for repeatability between users

The Fowler 52-250 series outside micrometer has a Vernier-scale display with a 0.001" resolution, a choice of measuring range, and a disc-style anvil/spindle pair to measure thickness of narrow grooves and difficult or closely spaced areas, such as slots and recesses. Disc micrometers are also used to measure ribs, keys, fins, and cutting edges on forming tools, and the chordal thickness of gear teeth. The Vernier-scale display has a 0.001" resolution and an accuracy of 0.00016" for precise readings and accurate measurements. The zero adjustment on the sleeve ensures accurate measurements. The anvil/spindle shafts have a 0.256" diameter, and hardened, ground, and micro-lapped measuring faces provide wear resistance. The discs have a 0.787" diameter, 0.315" center-hole diameter, 0.039" edge thickness, a 0.250" total depth, and 0.00004" flatness. The hardened, ground, and lapped spindle thread provides smooth movement, accuracy, and long life. The locking lever on the spindle locks measurements in place for accurate readings. The ratchet-stop thimble provides an audible sound and stops the spindle from turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant
